Hi!

I’m a researcher, scientific illustrator, and photographer who’s passionate about this complex chemical reaction we call “life.”

About

Professional Nerd.

I can often be found exploring the woods behind my Scituate, RI home with my two dogs Fisch and Cannon. Usually all three of us look like toddlers seeing the forest for the first time. My hands full of leaves and sticks, searching for the unseen. My dogs mouths also full of leaves and sticks, just having fun on a Tuesday. When I’m not exploring the upper Narragansett Bay estuary I can be found right in the middle of the Bay at Roger Williams University (RWU) in Bristol, RI. For the last 9 years I have called Bristol my second home as I developed my career. Currently at RWU I am a laboratory manager for the Coral/Marine Microbial Lab where we work with the Rhode Island state coral, Astrangia poculata. This coral is really what got me into my love for microscope photography and all things tiny. Through my work I started to see a whole new cosmos just beyond sight, and I got sucked in by the gravity of it.

I just like weird things, but I was a weird kid and still am pretty weird. I’ve always had an eye for exploring places many may find uncomfortable. Sometimes those are the places that need to be explored the most. That need to find the preternatural has lead me on many adventures and I think my many past selves would be excited to know I built a career on it.
